How I work

My approach

I am keen to work at your pace on whatever you want to address. This will happen as we build a trusting, therapeutic (ie. one which aims to help you) relationship so that you can talk freely and honestly explore the issues which concern you.

I will bring many years of experience of helping people whilst integrating a variety of approaches, appropriate for you.

I respect the fact that each person is an individual and therefore come with no simplistic or formulaic ‘solutions’.

The practicalities

After you have been in contact with me, we will have an initial introductory session, during which we will get a feel for whether we can go forward together. Feeling comfortable with your choice of counsellor is important because the relationship between counsellor and client is such an important part of therapy.

Counselling can be short, medium or long-term depending on your needs, your situation and your budget. I suggest that all clients attend a minimum of five sessions with a review to consider whether longer term work is appropriate.

When and where

I am able to work flexibly, Tuesday through Saturday. This can take place in my counselling room in Crosshills, between Skipton and Keighley, BD20 7LQ or online using Google Meet. (Accessibility: There are two steps into the building and a flight of stairs up to a toilet. If this is difficult for you, we can work online.)
